needed to adapt a server with no PS/2 support to work with a KVM switch. This did it.
I've had it for over a year and I don't have any complaints. It's a cable and it does the job.
HOWEVER, I have NOT contacted the company or Amazon because I dont think it's that big of a deal. Overall, I'm happy with the item, sure beats using 2 separate USB ports for mouse and keyboard. but an overall score of 4 because since I've installed the cable adapter, my curser randomly jumps to other places on the screen. Of course the only time that is a problem is if/when I'm playing a "timed game" online.
Seems like a buffer problem. CTG techs were responsive by email but suggested only that I set the keyboard settings slower. But don't waste your money. If you type at any significant speed, forget it. Zero stars but can't go that low. Even at slowest repeat rate, it still hangs.
Am I really going to return a $10 cable. This Sabrent cable looks exactly like the CablesToGo PS/2-USB converter I bought. The cable cannot keep up and the keyboard hangs while you type. Too bad.
I had problems trying to get my system to recognize my keyboard during a new Windows installation when using this converter, and then once I finally got to Windows I had even more problems:- Holding down a key takes a half second or more to be recognized, and then it just randomly stops repeating- When you press a bunch of keys at the same time (i.e. during gaming), it sometimes just gives up and doesn't recognize anything, or sometimes presses the completely wrong keyFor all these reasons I would definitely not recommend this converter for anything more than the most BASIC kvm use.
